Diamondback Golf & Country Club

Diamondback Golf & Country Club

Opened in 1995, this is another of Joe Lee’s great Florida layouts, located directly across the street from Glenelefe Resort in Haines city, about 40 minutes west of Orlando’s International Drive. The course was carved from 240 acres of virgin forest and offers dramatically rolling fairways bordered by dense trees, pristine natural wetlands and well-positioned water hazards. Diamondback is situated in a non-residential environment, which is unique to the Central Florida area and creates a very peaceful round of golf. Always in excellent condition, this course has been rated four stars by Golf Digest’s “Places to Play”.

This challenging course, by the Clifton, Ezell & Clifton design group, is home to the University of Central Florida women’s golf team. Each hole will play out a strategy of its own; some place a premium on the tee shot, while others demand an exacting approach. You’ll definitely need all of your clubs! Best of all, you will never forget the “Final Four”, where nerves are tested and opportunities abound. A popular sports bar and grill complete this great facility.

Stonegate Oaks Golf Club

Stonegate Oaks Golf Club

As the focal point of the new community at Solivita, Stonegate Golf Club is a great example of how a course can be enjoyable for players of all ages and abilities. Designer Ron Garl laid the course out over 7,000 yards from the back tees for the ‘big hitters’, but also ingeniously mapped out three more forgiving sets of tees. With water on eight holes and free-forming collars around the greens, there’s a definite emphasis on the short game. After all, golf’s most famous adage is ‘drive for show and putt for dough’.
